Enchancing Our Tradition of Compassionate Care |
 |
Change occurs when new ideas are applied to everyday life. That happened when a group of concerned citizens thought that healthcare in Mercer County could expand its horizons if new philosophies were applied to healthcare delivery.
In 2001, a Governing Board, composed of volunteer community leaders, was created to assume the operations of Mercer County Hospital, in partnership with the County Board. The “new” Governing Board consists of ten members, nine selected at large with representation from each of the county's five political districts and the hospital's Chief of Staff. Part of their charge was to create a vision for the future of healthcare. This vision would identify the values and guidelines that would expand the hospital's capabilities to match the community's needs for quality healthcare. After many diligent hours of work, the following vision statement was created: |

"To be recognized as a community leader by delivering superior healthcare through a team of dedicated professionals in a friendly, compassionate, and growing environment." |
